- Hitchhiked to Mexico from Bellingham, Washington
- Graduated with my undergraduate degree in Forestry and Recreation from the University of Montana in 1999
- Worked with juvenile delinquents in a wilderness setting for a couple of years (Alternative Youth Adventures)
- In 2001, began working for Austin-Lehman Adventures and Mar Y Aventuras guiding adventure trips in Montana,Wyoming, and Mexico. I continue to work for Austin-Lehman Adventures (www.austinlehmanadventures.com).
- Bicycled from Washington state to Mexico with good friend and college roomate, Lincoln Baker
- Lived in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico for 4 years and picked up some Spanish
- Worked as an ESL instructor at Yakima Community College
- Received my Masters in Teaching 2006
- Lived in Floripa and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for 5 months with my little brother Jacob. Picked up some Portuguese.

- Moved to Cartagena, Colombia and taught English at Colegio Jorge Washington (www.cojowa.edu.co)
